Exhibition - "The Butterfly Effect" Exhibition

The Monaco Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology is delighted to invite you to discover its new temporary exhibition: The Butterfly Effect: The Pre-History of Animals, organised under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. Explore whole rooms themed to the animal kingdom and biodiversity, and take a fascinating journey through archaeology and our natural history!

This exhibition looks at the cinematographic work of Cinéam, from its beginnings in the 1950s to the advent of video and the end of the 1980s, giving visitors a unique insight into the amateur filmmakers' club and its artisanal - even family-centric - approach to the cinematic arts, and showcasing its finest productions, which illustrate their own account of the Principality and its history.

The Oceanographic Institute of Monaco is proud to present "Mediterranean 2050", an immersive and interactive exhibition at the Oceanographic Museum. With some 1,000 square metres of exhibits to explore, museum visitors can get a glimpse of the Mediterranean from a new perspective, and commit to protecting our local Sea with a journey through time and space that will take them forward to the year 2050.

Le 2 décembre 1805, Napoléon remporte à Austerlitz sa bataille la plus célèbre. En quelques heures, il a réussi à disloquer l’armée austro-russe. La paix de Presbourg avec l’Autriche suivra quelques semaines plus tard, tandis que la guerre avec la Russie se poursuivra jusqu’en 1807. Cette campagne de 1805 s’inscrit dans un contexte géopolitique précis, à un moment où la prépondérance française sur le continent est contestée par les autres puissances, stimulées et financées par l’Angleterre. La victoire permet à Napoléon de faire un grand pas en avant vers son objectif de prépondérance, hérité des décennies précédentes. Mais quel était son projet « européen » ? C’est ce que, au-delà de la seule bataille, nous tenterons d’expliquer pendant cette intervention ». À la suite de l’échec de la paix de Tilsit, vinrent l’invasion de la Russie, la restauration des monarchies d’Ancien Régime, et le déclin progressif de l’influence française en Europe. Il faudra attendre la Première Guerre mondiale, la chute de la Russie tsariste et la paix de Versailles pour voir réapparaître une tentative de recomposition de l’ordre européen. Georges Clemenceau reprit alors partiellement la vision napoléonienne en cherchant à affaiblir durablement l’Allemagne : il renforça la Pologne et soutint l’indépendance des États baltes, autrefois dominés par l’Empire russe. Mais, à l’image de Tilsit, Versailles fut une paix trop dure. L’esprit de revanche des vaincus, combiné à l’immoralité croissante des régimes autoritaires, mena à l’ignominieux pacte germano-soviétique de 1939 et, bientôt, à une nouvelle guerre mondiale. Après l’affaire du canal de Suez en 1956, le monde comprit que les grandes puissances — notamment les États-Unis et l’URSS — ne toléreraient plus que la France et le Royaume-Uni conservent leur statut d’empires coloniaux. Dès lors, Paris et Londres, à l’instar de Vienne avant elles, devinrent les capitales démesurées d’États post-coloniaux aux ambitions réduites, dans un monde désormais dominé par des logiques de blocs.

Conjuguant leurs efforts sportifs à la générosité, ils ont parcouru plus de 5 122 815 kilomètres et permis de reverser plus de 5 448 620 euros à des projets en faveur d’enfants malades ou défavorisés. Cette année encore, pour la 26ème édition, du 15 au 23 novembre, l’objectif est ambitieux : parcourir 325 000 km pour collecter 325 000 euros et accueillir 14 000 participants.
